The benefits of TANIQ's Robotic Winding solutions

From complex geometries to multi-process production, TANIQ's robotic platform is built to support the development and production of demanding composite parts

01
7+ Degrees of Freedom
Robotic winding systems can be custom configurated to provide the degrees-of-freedom and reachability, required for winding or placement on complex or large parts. Their modular nature offers the flexibility to configure optimized lay-outs to maximize the production efficiency, or provide the flexibility required for R&D projects.

02
Modular Architecture

Configurable for different part sizes, tooling setups, and process combinations. When requirements change between programs, the system adapts — supporting prototyping, development, and production on a single platform.

03
Multi-Process Integration

Combine filament winding with AFP or rubber winding on a single robotic platform. No separate machines, no extra handling — reducing cycle time and increasing consistency across complex layup sequences.

04
Simulate and Optimize Offline

TaniqWind Pro provided powerful functionalities to optimize your design and winding programs offline before going to production, shortening development cycles and reducing material waste.

Examples of Robotic Configurations

Freedom of configuration

The strength of robotic winding systems is that thanks to their modular nature they can be configured to mach your requirements. This makes them suitable for traditional winding set-ups, but even more for users that want tpo have the flexibility to wind a large variety of parts and switch between parts easily.

CNC vs Robotic Winding

How does Robotic Winding compare to CNC?

CNC filament winding is a proven, efficient technology for rotationally symmetric composite parts. Robotic winding doesn't replace it — it extends what's possible. For programs that demand more geometric freedom, multi-process capability, or future adaptability, the differences matter.

Capability Traditional CNC Winder TANIQ Robotic System
Degrees of freedom 2–4 fixed axes: mandrel rotation, carriage travel, cross-feed, delivery eye 6-axis robot + mandrel rotator (1) + more if needed
Multi-process integration Single-process machine architecture Multiple tools and processes on one platform
Prototyping & low-volume A&D High retooling overhead for small runs Designed for agile development cycles
Complex geometry capability Optimized for cylindrical mandrels only Configurable with more degrees of freedom for complex shapes
Program-to-program adaptability Fixed layout — refixturing required per part family Modular architecture reconfigures across programs
